Approvals and notifications

Member approvals, notification lists, and shell badges.

This guide is the detailed Campsite help article for this topic. It is written for UK employers and people teams using a branded organisation workspace such as {org}.camp-site.co.uk.

Campsite routes many actions through approval and notification queues so the right reviewer sees work at the right time.

Member approval queues

When new members register, they may enter a pending state until a reviewer approves their account.

QueueWho uses itRoute
Reviewer queueManagers and coordinators in scope/pending-approvals
Admin queueSuper Admins and users with org edit access/admin/pending

Reviewers see requested roles, department context, and can approve, reject with a note, or assign a final role. Bulk approve is available to org-level admins with the right permission.

On mobile, use Pending approvals for reviewer work. New registrants who are still blocked see a dedicated pending state until approval completes.

Shell badges and the notification bell

The top-bar bell aggregates unread counts from multiple domains: broadcasts, pending approvals, leave, recruitment, applications, HR metrics, calendar, shortlisting, onboarding, performance, and rota.

Badge counts refresh in real time when underlying data changes. Use the command palette to jump straight to a notification list or approval queue.

Notification list pages

Dedicated notification pages exist for domains such as leave, onboarding, recruitment, applications, calendar, and shortlisting. From each list you can:

  • Open the underlying record
  • Mark one item read
  • Mark all read

Quiet hours

Enable Do not disturb from the top bar to suppress non-critical alerts during configured quiet hours. Critical security or account states may still surface when required by your organisation.

Admin notification defaults

Super Admins configure org-wide notification defaults under Admin β†’ Notifications. See notification defaults for channel defaults and broadcast delivery settings.

Before you contact support

  1. Confirm you are signed in on the correct organisation URL ({org}.camp-site.co.uk).
  2. Refresh after a recent role or permission change.
  3. Check whether a colleague with the same role can see the same controls.
  4. Capture the page URL and any error text if you still need help.
